The cottages are the newest addition to the accommodation offerings at the Lovango Resort and Beach Club. Unlike the treehouses and tents, the cottages are fully enclosed and air conditioned for guests seeking more creature comfort. The design elements further echo and extend the motifs used across public and private areas throughout the island, but elevate a bit further with luxurious fabrics, caning details in the architecture and furniture, and custom lighting, millwork, and furniture.
I had the pleasure of gathering design inspiration for the overall design and furniture references, and worked with our furniture workroom to perfect the pieces installed in the final product. Elegant and simple shapes are punched up with artisan details and aesthetic references to create a calming, spa-like interior; thoroughly modern yet timeless, warm, and comforting.
A floor to ceiling window dominates the bathroom, overlooking a lush tropical jungle of vines and palms. Light pours into the space from the large window as well as from the wrapped, glazed sun-room. Since the building needs to be able to weather hurricane force winds and rain, the less glass the better, but through some intelligent design maneuvering we were able to bring the light in and not sacrifice any views.
